respect the senator, respect the institution

"A king as such a respect is due can never be lambasted inside his own palace" -rlpv

To many, the action of Atty. Aguirre was perhaps a sign of courage, an act of audacity and bravery. To members of the legal profession, his action is a huge disappointment and a big mistake.

As a student of law, many times have we been reminded to ALWAYS respect the court, give the court the due respect it deserves. It has been a long-standing principle which instructs the members of the legal profession to RESPECT the court and the judges.

Respect perhaps is one word quite difficult to fathom as different people perceive the term itself differently. As in the case of the legal realm, we know what the word means. We know it too well.

In this case, perhaps what's missing in translation is the part that each party played, @senmiriam as senator-judge and atty. Aguirre as a lawyer and a part of the prosecution. Unlike how laymen perceive it, a lawyer is bound by a code of conduct. A code to be obeyed. In this picture, Sen. Santiago rightfully earned the respect due her and none of it was imposed. The members of the bar should respect the court and the judges regardless of any utterance made.

Even Atty. Adel Tamano was very much frustrated with the outright attack that he saw. And I quote him, "As a member of the bar...Respect the Senator, Respect the Institution..."

The point here ladies and gentlemen is not Respect per se but respect as it is demanded as required by the circumstances.

And as such, to all the Senator-Judges, it is but rightful that the erring lawyer be cited for contempt.

P.S.
My congrats to my friends who are now ATTY.s

happy to be 24

24 years ago, 14th of February 1988, I was released into this world. Yes, I was brought to life on a Valentine's Day, the day of love. 24 birthdays have come and passed which made me realize how time flies fast, really fast.

Feb. 14 2012. I woke up with beaming positiveness despite the fear I have for my Corporation Law class that day. Bombarded by multitudes of greets and well-wishes, I felt that I'll be able to own that day. Luckily, I did. School day really came and went quickly. Thank GOd. I have to thank Tin Elizalde for that sansrival cake which was oh so yummy! Thanks tin and jocamell!

Being the believer of the non-celebratory-ness of birthdays, which is of course caused by a mishap in the past, I didn't really plan what and how to spend my birthday. Thank God for my mom and dad who did all the planning. We settled to dine-in this year, spend good time over good food for dinner. I was amazed to see how much they prepared for this rather routinely celebration. We had pasta, pancit, roast chicken, pininyanhang chicken, crispy pata, and this signature pork recipe by my dad which I don't know the name. Of course, they didn't forget the cake. That day, I asked my sister if mom's gonna buy me cake, and my sister said, "of course!" Haha. Turned out it's my sister who bought me my cake! Thanks for that! I did love the good food but what I loved more is the feeling that my family cares. They do care about me and my birthday. I love y'all for that! :) also, to two of my childhood friends who dropped by that night, thank you!

The 14th of Feb. ended and obviously my birthday ended too. But the celebration did not. Today, my good friends, czai, ejay, stan and roxy surprised me with a house party they came up with. haha. I never really thought of a surprise party. Never. But then, since you guys were able to do so, I have nothing left to say but THANK YOU! Your efforts are well-appreciated and I will never forget it. Gosh, I even cried. Haha. Really, thank you and I love you all. You guys are the bestest ever.

The number of greets I received was just overwhelming. I felt that I was really loved by many and that felt really nice. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who, for a word or two, spent time to send their greets and well-wishes.

The opening of my 24th year, my 24th rebirth, has been a blast thus far. I say it's a good sign. My day may have ended, but the celebration, I guess not. I'm happy to have reached this far in this lifetime. I pray that I'd be given another 24 years and even more than 24 years to live my life and to finish this race.

Happy to be 24. Just happy.

P.S. This marks the start of the usage of this line, "I stopped aging at 23" lol.

Mandaluyong Day = BS Day

Feb. 9, 2012; THURSDAY

Mandaluyong Day - a BS day!

I do understand the need for a celebration since it's the day of my beloved city, but then, the committee in-charge of this rather poorly organized celebration should have done more logistically. Poor logistics and planning caused a multitude of chaotic sights and scenes in the city today, what's worse, I got to experience such chaos first hand.

Let me elaborate...

My dear organizers, didn't you know that Mandaluyong is considered as the heart of NCR. Seriously, it's located at the center of the metro, encircled by different cities - Pasig, San Juan, Manila, and Makati. In Mandaluyong, the slightest road-obstruction will likely cause traffic. Today, it's as if a car pile-up happened. No road was without cars. No route was free enough. TRAFFIC'S A BIG TIME BITCH TODAY!

What's worse, I had to walk the same walk I did during the typhoon Ondoy. Though this time it's flood free, the circumstances didn't make it any easier since I'm wearing my barong and my leather shoes. Imagine the agony!

Perhaps the only benefit I got from this walkathon is that it's an instant work out, a real life treading in a real life treadmill.

My dear Mayor, next year, I do hope you hand this situation to EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT planners. As a taxpayer, I think I deserve that.

So not fun in Mandaluyong!

just another manic TUESDAY

Tuesday. Feb. 7, 2012.

Corporation Law scared the life out of me. I was really unprepared for today's class, good thing, the prof didn't show up. *sigh...

Did impromptu invites for our council's thanksgiving mass and oath taking ceremony tomorrow. Beats me, my microsoft office training as basic as one, two, three. lol.

Played TEMPLE RUN until the iphone and ipad's battery went dead. I did enjoy it though. Caution to the "easily-addicted", BEWARE!

Three exams still pending, TAX 1, Special Proceedings and Provisional Remedies. God give me grace and strength. Had I picked another avenue, I wouldn't be laboring this much.

It's so difficult when people think you're feeling for something/someone, when in reality, you're really not. For the record, I have no ill feelings to anyone or to anything that has happened to me recently. Things happen for a reason, whether good or bad, all I can do is to take it all in, learn from it and move on. Guided by my principle, "bitterness is next to poverty", lol, I know I'm doing the right thing.

Now, all I should do to end this day is to sing my heart out. It has always been my way out, my outlet. Like a canary, I will chirp, chirp, chirp.

Looking forward to another day. May I see the sun shine once more!

CHRONICLE: BOYS WILL BE BOYS

"BOYS WILL BE BOYS"

Since my prep years, I've always had this fascination with Sci-fi films and shows. The likes of X-MEN, Smallville, Hereos, and others. I don't know, but this fascination, i think, will remain forever. A few months back, while waiting for the movie to roll, trailers of upcoming movies were played, one of which was CHRONICLE. I was really drawn by the trailer and after seeing it, I swore to myself that I will watch the movie no matter what.

So this afternoon, I decided to watch CHRONICLE. I watched it alone - LOSER! haha. Well, I asked a friend to join me but then this friend's in Baguio, so there, couldn't really make it. Hmm, so how do I find the movie? Well, how's about a 9 out of 10 sound? Yes, I loved the movie, a lot! I dig the movie's uncorrupted superhero vibe, the flying and the jean grey-ish moves. The movie made me so eager to become "one of the boys", be like either Matt, Andrew or Steve, but more like Matt really. Seriously, if there's one superpower I would want to have, it's telekinesis. Except for the documentary-ish attack of the film, which made me nauseous and all for the first 3o minutes, everything - the effects, the visuals, everything, was perfect and seemed oh so real! Btw, I loved the flying scenes and i think it might be cooler seeing it in 3d! The story was not something one couldn't fathom really, not too shallow, not too dramatic. It's a perfect mix and I'm cool with it. I feel sorry for the tragic ending though. At least, MATT's alive. haha.

'nuff said. Just go and see the movie for yourself! Enjoy!

safari overload...

since I wasn't able to wear this outfit to a friend's party, thanks to tiring volleyball games, i decided to do a photo shoot of me wearing it. SAFARI - all about animal prints and anything animal inspired. My goal on this ensemble was to look ala safari researcher, like, you know, those you see in Nat Geo and/or Discovery Channel. LOL. You be the judge.

btw, i uploaded the colored photos and bw versions.
