where to?

help, where's the best place, just in Luzon or kahit the entire pinas or sige na nga kahit somewhere overseas na malapit lang, to spend the Holidays? Mga 4 days... hit me up with your best suggestions. (sana may magreact!) nahihirapan na kasi ako magisip!

P.S. Family friendly/conducive location ah!

:) thanks!

:P beh!

I. ANG TRAFFIC bow...

Sayang!

:P

our Halloween party

this is the first of many more parties to come celebrated by us friends, me, ejay, roxy, czai and stan. Let's begin with our halloween party!

obviously, we had to "costume-ize" ourselves, now here's how we looked,

EJAY as CATWOMAN

STAN as LADY GAGA INSPIRED

ROXY as LADY DEMON

RONLI as ARIEL AND MAVERICK INSPIRED

CZAI as PEACOCK/DIYOSA NG HANGIN/FAIRY

We had good food, good music, good pictures, most of all, good time!!!

Next up, Christmas party, Gossip Girl inspired, i'll be Chuck Bass. :)

new and adjusting

ok. so i've been playing volleyball twice in the past week now. Last time I played was February of this year. Too long it has been and really, it was.

i'm playing with a new team now, since i left san beda already. My new friends from san sebastian are really accommodating though. But then again, I can't help but feel like a fish out of water since I haven't really bonded with them yet. Give me time, I'll blend in. :)

On with the volleyball diagnosis. RUSTY! SLOW! CONFUSED! At 22, i can strongly say i'm still young but in comparison to our younger opponents, with all the time they have playing, we can't just beat them convincingly. Practice, more practice, perhaps will make me and the whole team play better.

Overall, we are on the right track, playing good but not spectacular, new and adjusting.

To all my new teammates, Joseph, Anthony, Ezer, Tim, Jude, Justin, thanks for making me feel welcome! Looking forward to more hitting and floor diving! :)

post-analysis

TODAY...

6-2, 6-3 loss against nickson garcia.

As i've told nyx, this is one of those days where someone just had to give. Someone should lose and sorry that I was that someone. Sorry loss it was, but not bitter. I had my chances, took some, won some, lost more. As my efforts were winning category shy, in the end, Nyx won.

It's my first take on the shell court. Surprised because I personally think the ball moved slower. We had good rallies and good shots. I had a number of auspicious hitting moments. Literally jumping up and down, clinching fists and psyching myself to go further. Poor serves though. haha. that we have to work on. Grunting I guess really helps? haha, or should I say I'm again practicing the classic, "escalation of commitment"? Thanks to Sharapova and Serena. hehe.

I enjoyed playing today in Meralco's shell courts.. :) I think I'll be frequenting the place more. Plus scores given to their warm personnel. :) goodbye to UP's hardcourts? hmmm. i don't think so.

NICKSON!!! next time ulit! mananalo nako. hehe

P.S.

@ eileen, see you soon! excited nako to win the race!

@ cez and karla, super fun ang bonding natin sa rob ermita! swear! thanks cez! thanks karla! imy already!

it's just the end of a horrid day, not the end of life.

The past two days have been really tough for me. Pressure keeps on mounting. Stress level quickly rising. Frustration multiplying. (o, rhyming ah! :P)

For the longest time, I've convinced myself to always be positive no matter what, to see the glass as always half full, to believe that somewhere out there, someone's in a more hapless state and I am more fortunate. Optimism at it's fullest. It made me feel good, made me think there's more to life, made me believe that I can be stress free. It never failed. never ever.

But then, human as I am, I realized, I cannot not feel that I am fragile. Sometimes I cant help but give in, break down, think twice. There will always be a time when only a single choice is left - to stop, stop playing justice league-ish, stop not feeling the pain of the worst in life, stop believing that getting through anything unscathed is possible.

Right now, I seek to STOP. Stop, for a moment.

It's not like I'm super giving up. It's just that sometimes the world gets bigger and me, smaller, and smaller, and smaller. Negatives outweigh the positives. Failures defeat success. It's just tough you know, like college algebra tough. You poured your heart out, laid everything on the line, still, end up falling short. Just frustrating. Tiring.

I think I'll dwell in this state for quite some time. It's a must. But not too long I hope. I'll to try to convince myself to feel otherwise though. Slowly, I'll pick up from where I slipped and I'll get up, even stronger and less vulnerable. I will. I know I will.

As I've previously stated, it's just the end of a horrid day, not the end of life.

Just not, not yet...

Team purple phoenix

Congrats din kay tom! top 5 agent!

letters to juliet quotable quotes

*coping up with all the negative happenings...

I was able to watch Letters to Juliet yesterday as part of Croxy's bday movie marathon celebration. good thing we picked that out of the pile of honestly sold pirated cds somewhere in Makati.

I'm a sucker for romantic happy endings and I must say, this one's something worth watching. really worth watching. As a person who really digs in to the dialogue of movies, I took note of some quotable quotes from the movie. (but i verified it still via google)

Here goes,

" I'm sorry, I didn't know love had an expiration date. "

-Sophie; Amanda Seyfried

"When we're speaking about love, it's never too late"

- Lorenzo,

THIS ONE'S THE BEST,

"Dear Claire, What and If are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What if? What if? What if? I don't know how your story ended but if what you felt then was true love, then it's never too late. If it was true then, why wouldn't it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart. I don't know what a love like Juliet's feels like - love to leave loved ones for, love to cross oceans for but I'd like to believe if I ever were to feel it, that I will have the courage to seize it. And, Claire, if you didn't, I hope one day that you will. All my love, Juliet"

-Claire; Vanessa Redgrave

there are a lot more cheesy quotes in the movie but these are the one's that really stood out. well at least for me. :)

9/26

i dont know how to start this, but i have to, somehow...

although not everyone has come to know of the pillbox incident in taft last Sunday, still, that incident, that unfortunate and saddening incident, resulted into wounded bodies, shattered dreams, broken hearts.

supposedly, i was to grace the salubong, but because of my being stubborn and waking up late i decided not to go. Had i gone that day, it would've been highly likely that I be on that same spot where it all happened, standing with my friends, waiting for the day to end. And with that, I could not thank God more.

When I heard of the news, all I could think of were my friends. Please, please be ok. Turned out to be, the negative. Injured, were a good number of them I have known since my first day in lawschool and others I met along the way, nevertheless, friends for keeps. I was so worried, texting everyone I know, gathering information and everything that comes with it. And sad to say, my friends were injured, some were minor and some severe.

I personally condemn this incident. There is definitely no room for such malevolent act. We all strive to achieve the same dream, that elusive ATTY. Instead of bringing and pulling others down, we should all work together and help bring the best out of each of us. After all, we are agents of justice and we ought to act as such.

To my friends, all I could hope for is a fast recovery. May we all live to cope with this challenge God has given us. We are strong, but we can be stronger.

Cla, Arsei, Dia, Bea, Bheng, and Anne - it's so nice to hear that you're unscathed

Ate Cas, Eunice and Sharky - i pray for your quick recovery and just always know that I am here to be of help in anyway I could.

Raissa - I so admire your strength and tenacity. I remember the last time we talked, we were talking about our recits and how we could surpass this sem. Basta, on behalf of our class, we will all be with you. We will reach that ATTY. See you soon! God bless!

women

Women. O women. It's amazing how your kind do away with anything and get anything you want by virtue of your being a WOMAN.

It's not that i hate your kind, it's just that, sometimes, you go way past the limit! Too many examples popping out of my mind right now; we pay the same fare, you get a bigger seat; when it rains, we get soaked, you're all dry; we board the same elevator, you always go first). Let's just put it this way, chivalry's so yesterday, so "king arthurish". Abolish abolish abolish! Don't get me wrong though, I'm still a certified pro-girl advancement! Pro-equality! :)

Right now, I'm so in the belief that I should speak on behalf and for the benefit of all the males. And so will I. So gents, it's high time we draw the line between reason and insanity, move move move. Do it now or forever be too late. (I hope this is somehow effective, like germ fighting 99.9% effective). HAHAHA!

when I'm hungry

here are 3 not to do's when i'm hungry...

NEVER

- (during classes) forestall my eating by asking questions (the shallow ones) thereby extending the class, because you'll eventually end up in my hate list. :P

- throw jokes at me or else, better be ready for my emotional and physical retaliation. :P

- make nasty comments on the food i'm eating unless you want it to fly and land in your face. :P

anyway, LOVE LOVE LOVE.

P.S.

To arsei, ellen, fats and jigs - thanks! we had a great time earlier, right?

Much thank yous to,

Alex of megaclinic for being a super great pt. and

Joy of globe telecom megamall.

uaap cdc

watching the uaap cheerdance has now become a tradition for me and some of my friends and i must say it's something i always look forward to every year. This time i expected nothing but the best not only from UP but from everyone else and well, they did serve it up.

reviewing the performances, here are my views...

UE - and another extended lingo ng wika performance. :) the best intermission number. :)

UST - costume's not really spectacular but as always, they delivered a solid routine with the perennial and never absent floor turns.

DLSU - they've always been steady in their lifts as i've seen them in the past years. too bad they had a few stumbles this time. great improvement though.

ADMU - i can now say that last year's win was a box in the moon. :P i cheered for you guys pa naman.

FEU - solid solid solid performance. however you guys kinda looked in a rush and natataranta when you performed. But the performance scared the life out of me. i remember myself saying, last na, fall, fall, please fall. hehe. i'm so bad.

UP - GALING IN A MAJOR MAJOR WAY. Solid from start to finish. plus the sunflower pompoms. :) nothing beats our creativity.

ADU - As a friend of mine said, "sayang ang bayad sa ticket!" But they had nice uniforms for the girls ah. and the opening part's ok. :)

NU - Major revelation. Look at what Mr. SM can do. Ang dami nila!!!

I'm happy with the turnout this year. UP's win is like the sweetest ever because all top three teams delivered a perfect performance. UP ang galing mo!!!

P.S. Thanks to Samsung and Tracee B. for our patron tickets :) Til next year!

Mark and Tracee - post the pics na!!!

pambahay get-up

funny fact i can't seem to understand.

You know those people giving leaflets for condos in malls?

I can't seem to grasp why they give me flyers when i look trashy and all. (as in like as of this moment, i'm wearing pambahay shorts and my white aes shirt with my backpack and tennis racquet). whereas when i'm all preppy and dressed up, seems like i'm one common person. Deadma sila suddenly.

Haha. Mas appealing ba talaga tingnan ang pambahay getup? Hehe.

:P

AASA!

AASA KA BA?! Ako, OO. AASA ako! hehehe.

watch out, we're the next big thing!

on venus raj...

after the loathful hostage-taking incident yesterday, the majority of the Philippines woke up inspired today, hoping and praying that our bet, Venus Raj, bag and bring home the Ms. Universe crown. (ok, comma splice?)

Much has been said about her magnanimous defeat but much more should be recognized in her underrated achievement..

To prove my point, here are some facts about her and her cruise towards the pageant from start to finish. (NOTE: I'm not a Venus Raj fan, just to be clear)

1. She has been invited to be one out of the 80+ candidates to promote the pageant. She arrived in the US long before the rest did. That in itself is an achievement for being recognized at an early stage is a golden opportunity.

2. She topped the polls (which only members of the Ms. U website can rate). Plus, she really is the crowd favorite.

3. Based on my view on the scores, Venus placed 3rd in the swimsuit competition (behind Mexico and Jamaica) and 1st in the long gown competition.

4. As for her much controversial answer to the question, I will have to side with Gloria Diaz and Margie Moran. It's never easy going up on stage and answering your heart out to one question that will either make you or break you. Yes, Venus could've done better but I know that she did answer the question the best that she can. She properly exuded the immortal "grace under pressure".

On a personal note, I think that among the five contestants, Venus had the most opinionated question and as such, she really had to dig deep, however she wasn't able to. The questions for Ms. Mexico, Jamaica, Australia, and Ukraine about internet supervision, death penalty, clothing legislation and full body airport scanners respectively were all answerable by either being FOR IT or AGAINST IT. It's a choice between two sides of the coin which relatively is easier. On Venus' "major major" and excessive use of thank yous for me's fully justified. We should remember that we speak not to impress, but to EXPRESS. If she found it fitting to use those words under enormous pressure, then who are we to say there's a better choice.

In conclusion, I personally think that Venus Raj did do a good job! And it's one tough act to follow. After Miriam Quiambao's success, Venus Raj is the next best thing. Kudos to Venus! Couldn't be prouder!

You be Venus Raj and let's see who's better!

P.S. My father even said that she deserves credit for what she achieved. After so so number of years, the Philippines has again surfaced as one of the most beautiful. (see, even my father agrees with me...lol)
