the fallen Federer

I'm so F***** disappointed with Federer's performance in this year's Wimby QF!

What's so difficult with Berdych's game?

It's just his serve, nothing more. Considering Federer stands 6"1 and Berdych at 6"5, not too great a disparity for him to have a F***** hard time!

Federer Error #1
- where's the lethal forehand?

Federer Error #2
- too soft a backhand.

Federer Error #3
- poor anticipation. obviously, majority of Berdych shots were forehands down the line. A novice tennis player would know that.

Federer, I know you're great, the greatest if I may say, but obviously, you're nearing the end. Better leave the party before it's long over. Leave now, after all, you're already a legend. Leave just like how Henin left - with all the honor and horror.

Switching to Andy Murray and Nole Djokovic! :)

I guess rolex and nike will be pulling out all their endorsement... lol...

Wimbledon Day 5

Here are some of the scheduled games for day 5 of Wimbledon. (starts 7pm star sports)
Feeling tennis expert naman ako, I'll try my luck on predicting who will come out victorious based on their head-to-head records from atp and wta websites.

Federer vs Clement
7-3

Age wise, Clement's older ergo advantage for Federer.
Last time Clement won over Federer was in 2001. All of Clement's wins were over hard courts.
They only had one meeting in a grass court (2004), Federer won quite easily, 6-3, 7-5.

Prediction: Federer in 3 sets.

Monfils vs. Hewitt
2-1

Height: Monfils' is taller, ergo his advantage in serving and reaching wide balls.
Experience: Hewitt has been triumphant in Wimbledon, having one title in his gallery ought to boost him up. Plus his earlier win this year over Federer in the grass courts of Halle.
They never met in any grass court tournament, and Hewitt being more efficient in grass courts, i guess, may snatch a victory over Monfils.

Prediction: Hewitt in 4 sets.

Montanes vs. Djokovic
0-3

Nothing much to say. With youth, rankings and wins being on djokovic side, Montanes could only hope for a miracle to win over Nole.

Prediction: Nole in 3 sets.

Kohlschreiber vs. Roddick
1-2

2003 St. Poelten Open: Clay: W Roddick
2005 Aussie Open: Hard: Roddick
2008 Aussie Open: Hard: Kohlschreiber

I believe Roddick will cruise along this match. He obviously is very much comfortable in Wimbledon's grass courts. His being thrice runner-up would speak for his capacity in grass. Kohlschreiber will have to dig deep though.

Prediction: Roddick in 4 sets.

Henin vs. Petrova
13-2

Both veterans and of the same age.
Justine has won over Nadia on grass court only once. Despite the 13 wins over nadia, I think she'll have a tough time beating out power hitter and fast server petrova. Justine never won Wimbledon, maybe this time, she will... or not...

Prediction: Justine in 3 sets

Kleybanova vs. Venus Williams
1-1

Kleybanova winning over venus 2009 Madrid Clay
Venus winning over Alisa 2008 Wimbledon
Wimbledon is Venus' territory. It's unlikely that someone like Alisa K. would knock her out this early. Venus, regarded as one of the best grass players of her era, may prove to be too strong for Alisa.

Prediction: Venus in 2 sets.

Clijsters vs. Kirilenko
2-0

Multi-awarded Kim will not exert much effort in winning this match over Maria. The age gap being 4 years only, not much of a problem for comeback queen Kim. Kim never won Wimbledon, maybe this time, maybe.

Prediction: Clijsters in 2 sets.

If my predictions turns out to be right,

Kim will meet Justine in the fourth round.
Djokovic will meet Hewitt in the fourth round.

P.S. So happy Isner won over Mahut, 70-68. :) Maria through to the next round.

lost cause

Fighting for a lost cause - cumbersome, tiring
Living separate lives - understandable, given
No point in blaming neither praising, just no room for pin-pointing
No time for bragging much more for imposing

What's the worth of continuing on?
With a lost cause, better let go and move on.
Just the same it will forever reflect the fallen
Proving the opposite is never gonna happen.

Lost cause as it may seem, I did what I had to do.
I did. I did.
I did pass the judge of me, did conquer my own worst enemy.
And in the end, I was good enough to save me.

*oh crap...

2nd day as it was...

Second day of my stay in my new school. Everything's new and i do mean everything. I had Special Penal Laws and Environmental Laws for today. Nothing really much about the subject but there's something more about the professors. Both of them were totally hilarious in different ways.

SPL - under atty. sawadjaan.

- power tripper!

- Atty. S to Ron: Where are you from?
Ron: San Beda sir.
Atty: (staring at me from head to toe), JEANS! Talagang naka jeans ka pa ah.
(duh! pwede pa kaya ako magdress down until the 28th!)

- Atty: Do you know Jenny?
Class: Who's Jenny?
Atty: Jenny from PBB!!!
(omg, like i don't even watch it.)

- Atty: Sinong Muslim?
2 Guys raising their hand...
Atty: Pasado na kayo.
(wow, sana may ganun din para sa mga taga-mandaluyong, free pass sa course. lol. But the guy from
Maguindanao was extra nice to me, "hi back")

- Atty: Beadle, how many extra points do you want? Final grade or Final exam?
(kapag maganda ka nga naman, free pass ulit!)

- Atty: You, what are the two kinds of rape or how can it be committed...
Student: .... answered quite ok....
Atty: Actually, kaya kita tinanong kasi mukha kang rapist!
(I super laughed that time kasi super point blank na comment ni sir un. Plus towards the end the class,
that student's dubbed na rin as maniac!)

- Atty: Sino si charlie?
Charlie: ..standing up..
Atty: Eh hindi ka naman pala cute eh! bakit charlie pangalan mo?
(turned out, Charlie was Atty's Japanese Spitz, kawawang bata naging aso bigla)

- Atty: Do you know Gabby?
Class: again wondering... sino si gabby?
Atty: yung sa kung tayo'y magkakalayo! Ay dapat magquiz tayo tungkol sa teleserye every night!

- Atty: RECITE WITH FLARE!

- Atty: "Know the trivial matters, wag lang aral ng aral."
(I kinda like this one...)

- Until now, nasasama pa din ang name ko sa girls. haha.

NEL - under Atty. Aquino-Melendres

- Super Perky plus the environmentalist get-up to match the course. :)

- Atty: I will follow the National Passing Rate for this class' passing rate which is at 20%, unless you prove otherwise. Kaya mag-aral kayo ng mag-aral.
(Patay! Bakit ganun?! I think it's unfair.

- Atty: Pacquiao vs. The Lion, Birds vs. Planes
(Biology?)

- Atty: "the real king of the jungle is not the lion, but the elephant."
(Parang story book reading lang...)

- Atty: Ano tawag sa baby lion?
Class: cub.
Atty: sa baby tiger?
Class: cub.
Atty: sa baby pig
Class: piglet
Atty: sa baby carabao
Student 1: cow
Atty: cow?! carabao nga eh cow ka dyan. Ano?
Class: calf.
Atty: yes, calf, with the silent L, like "MARSEILLE"
Atty: eh sa batang lizard?
Class: ???
Atty: "baby lizard"
Class: nyeh?!

- Atty: Remember, you cannot make BIRIT the lupang hinirang or else...
(Conyo si ma'am)

- Atty: As I was on the boat to correigidor, and was feeling my KATE WINSLET moment, I was brought back to reality at once by the panorama of the Manila Bay.
(may ganun?)

- Atty: Who knows the Oposa vs. Factoran case? Writ of Mandamus? Continuing Writ of Mandamus? Writ of KALIKASAN?
(Recit agad?! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good thing hindi ako natawag.)

Hay, by the end of the day, I was all drawn out and super hungry. Better get ready for more crazy days of learning. :)

Rd. 1 Federer

Wimbledon started yesterday and I thought it was but fitting that Federer open the tour with his first round match against, the unheralded, Alejandro Falla, seeded no. 60. Falla has lost all his meetings against Federer not even winning a single set versus the greatest player. Everyone thought Federer would just breeze through his first round match and go straight on to his second. Nobody, i guess, even placed their bet on Falla, for everyone thought he was a sure loser.

With all the words said, what was done was different. Federer did win but Falla gave him a run out of his money. A thrilling five setter, the perfect match to open the tour 7-5 6-4 4-6 6-7 6-0. When Federer was two sets down, I couldn't help but wonder why such happened. What was going through the brains of the great champion? Was he over confident? nervous? excited? anxious? sick? Was it because Falla was a lefty? Whatever the reason was, I thank God for erasing all qualms Federer had come third set up until the final set. When Federer won the fourth set tiebreak at 7-1, I knew that it was Falla's end, and what more could I ask for to prove that I'm correct, a clean, 6-0 win in the fifth. Federer did beat Falla. Whew!

In my view, Falla did not play spectacular, Federer played unsteady. Only a few players recover back from a 2-0 lead and Federer once again braved the seas and sailed smoothly. He got through. Lucky win? Nah, he's just great.

ETC: Davydenko, Nole, Kim C., Henin, Venus, Andy R. and Hewitt all won their opening matches. Sour losers - Ivanovic, Cilic and Schiavone exit.

Pinoy Wishes

As I was walking through the metro's streets, I realized a couple of minor glitches plaguing our society today - disregard of pedestrian lights and stinky side walks and side posts.

Minute as it may seem, correcting it may prove something - proving that we can change, that we can take little steps towards betterment and eventually taking bigger leaps. That's why I made this sort of wish list. Maybe a few pinoys wouldn't mind granting these.

I WISH...

1. more Pinoys would not cross the street when the pedestrian light is RED.

2. more male Pinoys would not pee on side streets/posts and where else.

3. more Pinoys would see and realize what they could do for their country and earth.

You owe it to yourself and not to anyone else. Do it. These are the little things that you could do for our country, easy and effortless. Take a chance and see the change. :)

TT

Tennis Thursday with my new trainer, Coach Robert. It was our first meeting today. I thought we'd just be doing super easy routines but I was wrong. We did everything, from hitting backhands and forehands in the middle court and baseline, to volleying, to serving and up to smashing and even side-stepping and running routines. Whew, I thought I'd breeze through it but even before we ended, my energy's all used up. Tsk, I should've eaten a mega heavy breakfast. :P

After the training, i realized some accomplishments I made? Haha. (To nickson, next time we play, no more flying balls! hehe)

1. My backhand's better than my forehand. I suppose. :P

2. Surprisingly, I hit better when I grunt. (escalation on my part, haha, siyempre, idol ko si Sharapova)

3. NICKSON! I only made like, less than 10 super flying balls. :)

4. Serving was the hardest part, but I got to hit a few good ones.

5. Volleying, I got hit by the ball, ouch!

Til next Thursday! :)

My hands hurt right now, but I guess that's how it is. No pain, no gain. Plus, I love the extra added audience who for like 5 mins. watched me. Lol.

joke time...

alas! i succeeded on making a few people laugh with this original crazy antic. mind you, i was never a good joker. haha.

Q: Ano ang tawag sa apo ng chicken?

A: edi, "chicklet". From Chicken - Chick - Chicklet.

A few colleagues refute that it would be better if it's dubbed as "Chickling". hehe.

Anyway, i just thought it was funny. :P if only notes have recorded dialogues.

To Steve, Ejay, Gaze, Croxy, Stan and Cynch, thanks for laughing! :P aminin niyo, natawa kayo!

My Beloved MaSha

Recently, in relation to the just concluded FRENCH OPEN, i have heard someone say, "talo na naman si Sharapova. Puro ganda lang kasi.", and with that, divine intervention prompted me to defend my idol, my beloved MaSha.

As we all know aside from the gift of playing good tennis, Maria's also given the gift of beauty incomparable to any tennis player - she is six feet tall, bold and beautiful. She's one of the hottest players off court and on court. Her tennis career may have dwindled in the recent years due to injuries but that does not disprove her greatness otherwise. Yes, she may have earned more in endorsements but her prizes in her tennis triumphs are more valuable than that.

To prove my point, here are some feats Maria has accomplished so as to prove that she's not pure GANDA lang.

1. Maria Sharapova is the first Russian to win a Wimbledon singles title and the second-youngest women's champion in history.

2. She is the youngest titlist on the WTA Tour and was awarded the "Newcomer of the Year" prize by the WTA Tour.

3. She has reached the No. 1 Ranking in the world , the first Russian to be no. 1

4. She has won 3 of the four grandslams, the Australian Open 2006, Wimbledon 2004 and the US Open 2008. Only the elusive French Open's left.

FYI, venus williams has not yet grabbed a French and Australian Open trophy, Henin never won wimbledon, Clijsters claimed US Open twice and no more.

5. Won the WTA Championships (2004) on her debut appearance, where only the top players get to participate.

6. 22 singles titles, 3 doubles titles.

with that, i have nothing left to say but this,

MaSha, definitely not the next Kournikova! MaSha hindi lang puro ganda!

P.S. Makita at marinig pa kitang sabihin yan sa office humanda ka, lol. joke lang!

dare me not

we all have our "dare me nots", i just thought it would be worthwhile sharing mine. :P

so here goes.

never dare me to...

1. eat frogs, snakes, rats, insects and the like. never will i, even if it's the last edible thing on earth. water will do. lol.

2. jump off from anywhere high, go bunjee, i'm so acrophobic.

3. touch/hold roaches. COCKROPHOBIA! need i say more? btw, i just made that up, "Katsaridaphobia's the real thing but i find cockrophobia cuter. :)

4. tell the person i like/love how i feel... i'm so not good at that. :P

5. not take a bath for more than a day. urgh, sure stinker. no, no, no, not nice!

6. SING! for i will surely do it! nah! now that someone told me i'm "nakakairita', (i found the tagalog term more fitting), while singing, i'm now having second thoughts.

7. Get into a fist fight. i've never got knocked out before. please not the face! i couldn't even imagine how on earth i fully decided to take taekwondo in 2nd grade. ;)

8. eat all the white chocolate i could, for i will never stop. hehe

hmmm, that's all i could think of right now... haha, well i hope nothing else adds to this. and i fervently hope no one dares me to do one of these, :P

loyalty

loyalty...

it has always been a question of loyalty. it's always been the basis of everything, life, friendship, love, business, war, affiliation etc.

Why talk about this?

Late this afternoon was my scheduled interview in my new law school. yep, i'm transferring to a new one because of academic reasons. i have yet to blurt it out to the world for such is so not "blurtable". :P

Well, let's get going, in my interview earlier, series of questions were asked but among those questions, perhaps the most difficult to answer would be those related to loyalty, loyalty to the new institution that with open arms accept me as a part of them. Of course, to please them, i answered that my loyalty now rests with them, that loyalty for me was never an issue, that they could be assured that i would be more of a bastenian than a bedan. At that time, i didn't really know if i was saying the right thing. As you all know, I started out with san beda, learned a lot from them and suffered a lot as well. My mind was so convinced that all I am now, I owe it to Sbc.

After the interview, while i was pondering over how i answered those questions, i realized that it was but right that San Sebastian questioned me with regard to loyalty. I am now fully convinced with my answers, and i think they're right. Now that I'm moving to new grounds, my allegiance should move as well, the entirety of it. Allegiance to San Sebastian alone. It's just like applying for a new citizenship/naturalization, you relinquish your previous allegiance and accept a new one. As for San Beda, don't get me wrong, i will be forever thankful, thank you for making me tough, for training me, for making me realize my worth, and for failing me, but that would be it. I can't move on if I'm forever looking back.

I remember myself saying, that i will always be a LION no matter what, but now, with pride, i think i could muster to say,

I am now a STAG,
formerly a LION,
but will forever be a MAROON... (naisingit ko pa ang UP?) hehe

P.S. "Now that you're in baste, you can never wear something from beda" hahaha
